At Birthing Center Long Island, we trust the natural birthing process. We believe that birth is a transformative and precious life experience. Our practice is founded on the principle that a woman’s body and nature’s design are inherently wise. We integrate conventional, cutting-edge midwifery care with traditional western medicine. We attend birth in all 3 birth settings: home birth, in our birthing center, and in our affiliated hospital.

Judy Ribner, DNP, CNM
Co-Founder & Midwifery Director
Judy Ribner, DNP, CNM is a doctorally prepared midwife who completed her graduate midwifery education at SUNY Downstate and earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from NYU as valedictorian. Having professionally attended births at home, in birth centers, and in hospitals, her approach is grounded in trusting women, honoring physiologic birth, and providing safe, individualized care in the setting that best meets each woman's needs.
Joshua U. Klein, MD, FACOG
Co-Founder - Birthing Center NYC
Dr. Joshua Klein is a board-certified reproductive endocrinologist who completed his medical education at Harvard Medical School and his fellowship at Columbia University. He serves as Chief Clinical Officer of Extend Fertility.
As a co-founder of Birthing Center NYC and its Long Island practice, he is committed to expanding women's access to high-quality, individualized midwifery care and supporting a model grounded in physiologic birth, safety, and appropriate medical collaboration.
Joshua Klein, fertility specialist, shares his personal story-how the experience of all four of his children being born by cesarean, something he and his wife had not planned for, became part of the journey that ultimately led him to help create a different option for families and co-found Birthing Center NYC.
From the perspective of both doctor and dad, Dr. Joshua Klein shares what it was like trying to advocate for his family’s birth preferences while navigating the very hospital system in which he trained.
