Birthing Center Long Island was created for families who want a more personal, respectful approach to pregnancy and birth. Our philosophy is rooted in trusting the natural process of childbirth while providing skilled, evidence based midwifery care in a calm, supportive environment.

We believe birth works best when women are listened to, informed, and supported without unnecessary intervention. Our Long Island location offers an integration of modern midwifery, conventional medical standards, and holistic care designed to honor birth as a mother-led experience.

Serving families across Nassau County, Suffolk County, and surrounding Long Island communities, we provide a safe, welcoming alternative to hospital birth for low risk pregnancies.

Discover the Calm of Our Long Island Birthing Center

Care at our Long Island birthing center is individualized and collaborative. We respect each client’s informed choices and believe decision making should be shared between midwife and family. All evidence based prenatal testing and screenings are offered, with clear explanations so clients can decide what feels right for them. Declining certain tests is always an option.

Our approach prioritizes education, trust, and continuity of care so you feel confident and supported throughout pregnancy.

At Birthing Center Long Island, families are encouraged to labor and give birth in positions that feel natural and comfortable. Upright positions, hands and knees, squatting, kneeling, and free movement are commonly chosen. Clients are welcome to eat and drink during labor as desired, and IV fluids are used only when clinically beneficial.

Labor may take place in the shower or in the birthing pool. Some families choose to give birth in water, with waterproof monitoring used intermittently according to evidence-based midwifery practice. The physiologic process of birth is respected, with interventions used thoughtfully and only when appropriate. Immediately after birth, uninterrupted skin to skin contact is encouraged. Families who choose to breastfeed receive hands on support during the early postpartum period.

Our experienced midwifery team is dedicated to ensuring a safe, supportive, and rewarding birth experience. Midwives work collaboratively and have access to medical consultation when needed, ensuring both personalized care and clinical safety for mother and baby.

Our birthing center in Long Island features spacious, thoughtfully designed suites that support comfort, relaxation, and mobility during labor. Each room is equipped with modern medical technology while maintaining a warm, home-like atmosphere. Water birth options are available for eligible clients.

WHAT WE OFFER

Our Birthing Services

Prenatal Care

Prenatal visits are a time to build connection, trust, and understanding. During these visits, we assess both parent and baby while getting to know your preferences, goals, and birth vision. Routine care includes bloodwork, genetic screening, and ultrasound when indicated.

Prenatal appointments are scheduled monthly until 28 weeks, every two to three weeks until 36 weeks, and weekly until birth. Continuity of midwifery care allows you to develop a strong relationship with the midwives who will support your labor.

Labor & Birth

Our Long Island location supports natural labor and birth, including water birth for eligible clients.

Care includes continuous labor support from experienced midwives, freedom of movement, choice of labor positions, access to food and drink, intermittent monitoring, and appropriate clinical interventions when beneficial.

A midwife is on call around the clock to support labor and birth.

Postpartum Care

Postpartum care continues through six weeks after birth and focuses on physical recovery, emotional well-being, and infant feeding. Breastfeeding support and postpartum recovery guidance are core components of care during this important transition.

Well-Woman Care

In addition to maternity care, we offer well-woman services including annual exams, contraception counseling, and reproductive health care. Visits are unrushed, respectful, and grounded in holistic wellness.

Is a Birth Center Right for Your Pregnancy?

Birth centers are designed for healthy pregnancies that are expected to progress normally. During your first visit we review your history together and talk honestly about whether our care is the right fit. If it is not, we will tell you and help you find the care that is.

We care for

  • Low risk pregnancies at term
  • Single babies in a head down position
  • Families planning an unmedicated birth

Not every pregnancy is a good fit for birth center care, and the only way to know is a conversation. You can also read answers to the questions families ask us most.
